DAY 1- NEW YORK / FRANKURT
We begin our adventure by leaving our respective cities and joining together inNew York where we will receive a warm welcome from our tour hosts and meet our fellow travelers. We will depart via Wide body aircraft and arrive in Frankfurt the next morning. Meals will be served on board.
DAY 2- Wednesday – FRANKFURT / EISENACH
After a brief stop in Frankfurt, we are met by our escort and continue on to Eisenach. We will have approximately 4 hours of touring today. We will visit Luthers House,Bach’s House and the Wartburg Castle, where in 1521 Martin Luther translated the New Testament into German.After checking in, dinner and overnight will be at the hotel.
DAY 3-Thursday – EISENACH / ERFURT / LEIPZIG
This morning after breakfast we will explore the historically rich city of Eisenach. We will visit the Thomaskirche, visit the Bach Museum as well as the house and the Gewandhaus. The Gewandhaus is acclaimed as the most acoustically perfect concert hall in the world. We also will be treated to an organ concert. We are now in Leipzig, where we will see the famous Thomas Church where Martin Luther introduced the Reformation in 1539 and Johann Sebastian Bach served as organist and choirmaster. We will check into our hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4- Friday - LEIPZIG / NUREMBERG
After our hot breakfast we board our bus, leaving Leipzig and head to Nuremberg. The beauty of this medieval town of Nuremberg. We will enjoy a guided tour of this walled city including a visit to the "Kaiserberg", a 12th century castle that provides a commanding view of the city. We will also visit the beautiful Church of St. Lawrence, and perhaps have some time for exploring. We then check into our hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5- Saturday - NUREMBERG / MUNICH / SALZBURG
We begin the day in the medieval town of Nuremberg and after one last look at this unique town we travel to Munich where we enjoy a tour of the city. The tour includes a visit to Nymphenber, a spectacular palace that took over 100 years to complete. After our tour of Munich we travel to the beautiful town of Salzberg. We then check into our hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 6- Sunday - SALZBURG
Today we visit the beautiful city that served as the backdrop for "The Sound of Music". Our guided tour will take us to visit Mozart's birthplace and house, the immense Salzburg Cathedral and Museum, and St. Peter's Abbey (which houses the oldest catacombs in Austria). We will also travel to the Hohensalzburg Fortress that stands guard high above the city, and provides an incredible view of the surrounding countryside. We will have dinner and overnight in Salzburg.
DAY 7- Monday - SALZBURG / OBERNDORF / ST WOLFGANG / VIENNA
After breakfast we take a short ride to the little village of Oberndorf, we visit the chapel and museum of St. Nicholas Church where Silent Night was first performed by Franz Gruber in 1818. We then journey into the heart of the Alps, stopping at the quaint village of St. Wolfgang for viewing and photographing the spectacular scenery. Then it's on to Vienna for dinner and overnight. (Optional musical events available per schedule).
DAY 8- Tuesday - VIENNA
We begin the day with a guided tour of some of the famous sights of this glorious city. We will drive along the tree-lined Ringstrasse, viewing the famous Opera House, the Rathaus (city hall), and the vast imperial palace known as the Hofburg. We will also visit the Figaro House, where Mozart wrote his famous opera; the birthplace of Franz Schubert; the Johann Strauss Memorial House; and the Eroica House, where Beethoven composed his Third Symphony. Once again, the rest of the afternoon is free to explore all the charm and excitement of Vienna. Our evening meal tonight will be at a local dinner theater that features performances of Mozart's music. We will return to the hotel for overnight.
DAY 9-Thursday - VIENNA/ USA
We continue our journey home today, cherishing our memories of the wonderful times we had and the new friends we made. Upon arrival in New York we will be transferred to our domestic airlines for the flight home.
