Dear Pilgrim:
Tourism is back to Israel. Pilgrims are once again walking in the steps of Jesus.
The most important announcement we have is that the U S Travel advisory to Israel is now back to the way it had been since 2002. We are grateful that our State Department reacted so quickly. Usually it takes months or years to change such a warning.
We have talked to Access America, our travel insurance company. Passengers that took out policies or are on our Tour Protection Plan and have cancelled the trip to Israel only, can change destination and departure date for tours to the future if you do this by October 31, 2006.
Our tours are going to the Holy Land. If you are booked to go, get excited you are going to have a trip of a lifetime.
I talked with Daniela Ahroni, Consul for Tourism, Western USA, she wanted me to let everyone know that currently there are 100,000 tourists enjoying her country today. They are in the North, in the south, on the sea and enjoying Jerusalem. She also wanted me to direct you to her website, WWW.GOISRAEL.COM . Today as she put it, the entire country is at our touring delight.
Daniela also wanted you to know that if it was not safe, Israel would not be inviting you to come. Israel believes in the security of tourists.
Why is it safe in Israel? One of the major reasons is the society you are going to has very minimal violent crimes. Jerusalem might average 2 to 3 murders annually. Take any city in our country and check out the violent crimes that occur. We have over 1,000 violent crimes a year in Phoenix, Arizona alone
The second reason Israel is safe, they are aware of potential places that could be dangerous within their country. They will not let you into an area that is potentially volatile.
The third reason and the most significant one, is that while you and other pilgrims are in the country touring you will have your own private motor coach and a licensed guide on it. Your transportation will always be safe because the guide knows what is happening on the ground at all times. You will see your guide make several calls daily and (he / she) is probably calling ahead to see how the crowds are to make sure your group can accomplish your touring and getting the lay of the land before the group arrives. The guide is your ambassador to their country. They will not take you anywhere they would not take their own family.
The places we visit in Israel are safe. You hear a lot of Gaza in the news daily. Gaza is in the south west corner of Israel. We are 70 miles away. For the past 32 years we did not visit Gaza and today it is the same, we do not go there. The concept of the West Bank from a touring perspective has changed. Today you will be under the Palestinian Authority, twice for 4 hours each. When you go to Bethlehem and when you go to Jericho. You will leave Israel and go into Bethlehem and Jericho and after you have seen the Biblical places and perhaps a little shopping you are back into Israel sovereignty.
In 32 years and over 100,000 passengers that have taken our tours we have had 3 deaths in Israel during that time. All had heart attacks. It is the destination you are going to that creates your safety.
Who am I? When I was a boy my family spent several years in Beirut as my father taught Bible and English in a school in Beirut. Every holiday and other opportunities we would get in the car and head to Jerusalem. I am sure I was in the Holy Land at least 6 times during that time of my life. Since 1974 I have been involved with the family business of sending pilgrims to the Holy Land. There has not been a year that I remember where I have not been in Jerusalem. As business would dictate I have been there 6 times in a year. A week does not go by where I do not talk to someone in the Holy Land. For the past 32 years my home away from home has been Jerusalem.
Am I commercial? Absolutely! I have made my living and supported my family through our business. Our business has been to send pilgrims to the Holy Land. Those of you that have already been to the Holy Land will understand what I am about to state. I have seen changed lives when pilgrims come back from the Holy Land. For those that go for the first time, you will understand when you get home.
When my daughter was 15 years of age we had a group that was questioning the safety of going to the Holy Land. I told him that if he would go, I would send my daughter with his group. Jenni had a great trip and the group had a pilgrimage of a lifetime. Jenni will be with our October Co-Host tour leaving the U S on October 23, 2006. If you are on that tour she will be with you throughout your tour helping you with anything you need and she is also on our staff. She is now 28 years old, but more important is the mother of my grandson.
If you have decided not to go, please reconsider. Israel will be the most tranquil place on planet earth. More than that, you are sending a personal message that you want to support Israel. The way to support Israel is put income into their economy. Your purchase of the tour creates a purchase of a hotel room, hiring a guide that will change your life and of course purchasing of souvenirs helps the economy of Israel in a multitude ways.
It is safe to go to the Holy Land, but more important is that you will be rewarded with a life changing trip. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely Yours,
Michael S. Reilly
